A Sloop from this Port bound to old York at the Eastward, Adams Master, with a very valuable Cargo, was cast away in a Storm on a Place called the Salvages near Cape Ann, the 5th of this Inst. but She afterwards got off again; a Boat from Cape Ann, went immediately to their Assistance, but the Wind blowing very hard, and a high Sea, they could not possibly get on board, altho' they were so near as to hail the Sloop, and the People told them she was almost full of Water, and in a most moving Manner implor'd their Assistance, adding that if they were not taken out soon, they should all perish; but every Effort made by the Boat for their Relief was in vain, and in a short Time after she sunk, and every Soul, being 8 in Number, Passengers included, perish'd in the Water.
