BASEBALL RESOLUTIONS.
Official Board of First M. E. Church Endorses Project.

Dr. J. D. McFarland and the official board of the First Methodist church has given approval to the proposed league baseball team in the following communication:

"The question of Sunday baseball came before the official board of the First Methodist church last night. At both the morning and evening services on Sunday the congregations by unanimous standing vote joined in the protest against the proposal to have Sunday games. But the developments of Monday placed the matter in a better light, and in consequence the official board took the following action:

" 'Resolved, That we learn with much gratification that the proposition to institute Sunday baseball games in connection with our city has been definitely abandoned by the managers of the baseball association, and that we trust that a proposition so distasteful to the Christian sentiment of this community will never be revived again.

" 'Resolved, That we regard the game of baseball when conducted under proper conditions and safeguards against evil association, to be a legitimate and wholesome sport and amusement, worthy of the sympathy and patronage of the best people; but that it should not be thus countenanced and supported unless its managers have proper respect for the moral sentiments of a Christian community.'
