Mr. Editor—Two of our ablest Senators have declined a re-election. Shall we reduce our influence still more in that branch by dropping the only efficient Senator we have left? For one I shall not. From the convention list, I shall erase the name of Hon. Joseph Davis, whose inefficiency, as a legislator, is the subject of general remark; and, in its room, substitute that of Col. John W. Lincoln, whose able, manly and independent course, ought to secure to him the united suffrages of his fellow citizens.
I shall also substitute the name of Col. Samuel Mixter for that of Hon. Joseph Bowman. My ticket will then stand thus:
Hon. John W. Lincoln,
Edmund Cushing,
Joseph Estabrook, Esq.,
Charles Allen, Esq., and
Col. Samuel Mixter.
A ticket which would represent the county as it ought to be represented at the Senate board.
