Net profits of the jail and house of correction, in Boston.—It has been ascertained from the Report made by a committee of the Aldermen on this subject, that the Sheriff and Jailor have derived for their services at the Jail and House of correction a clear profit of $6000 per ann. What a contrast between the Keepers and the unfortunate Prisoners!—The one wallowing in the lap of luxury, wealth and splendor, while the other is almost perishing for not only the necessaries, but even for food to sustain life! Oh! glorious Land of Liberty!
