IN 3 COUNTIES
REGULATIONS
FOR
FLATHEAD,
FERGUS AND GALLATIN ANNOUNCED BY BOARD
Night Angling Prohibited in Waters of
Flathead Lake in Both Flathead and
Lake Counties, But Closed Season
Suspended Except on Small Area.
Fishing regulations for three
more Montana counties, Flathead,
Fergus and Gallatin have been announced by the state fish and game
commission. The open and closed
waters are:
Fergus, open: The Judith river, from
the mouth of Big Spring creek to
the mouth of the Judith river.
Flathead: Night fishing, from 5 p. m.
to 8 a. m., shall be prohibited in Flathead
lake, in Lake and Flathead counties.
Creel limit changes: In Ashley lake
the limit shall be five fish per day or
an aggregate of 10 pounds and one
fish.
In Flathead lake and Whitefish lake
the limit on sockeye salmon shall be 35
fish per day.
Closed: Fishing within 300 feet below
all dams shall be prohibited during
the entire year.
Logan creek from the inlet of Tally
lake to the fourth bridge.
Swan river from the bridge at Bigfork
to the hydro-electric plant, a distance
of approximately 600 feet.
Swift creek between the upper
Whitefish lake and lower Whitefish
lake.
Smith and Red Meadow lakes,
Herrig creek, in Flathead county, a
tributary of Bitter Root lake, and Bitter
Root lake within an area of 300
feet in all directions, from where Herrig
creek enters Bitter Root lake.
Rand creek, Wade creek, Fish creek
and Cottonwood creek, tributaries of
Ashley lake.
Hatchery, or Rand bay.
Ashley lake for a distance of 300
feet in all directions from the outlet.
The closed season shall be suspended
entirely on Flathead lake, and fishing
therein allowed during the entire year
in open waters and through the ice,
with the exception of that portion lying
to the right of an airline beginning
at Wood's bay and extending to the
Somers fish hatchery which shall be
closed from March 15, 1939, to May 21
1939, and from March 15, 1940 to May
21, 1940.
Gallatin, open: The Madison river
from Bozeman-Norris bridge below
Meadow lake dam to the Missouri
river.
Closed: The Madison river and tributary streams
from Hebgen dam to
Cabin creek.
Portal creek, entire year.
