OHIO.

The Legislature of Ohio has been touching the subject of Federal Relations. Mr. Norris—the newly appointed United States Senator—offered a series of resolutions—from which we extract the two following, as particularly deserving of notice:

Resolved, That the value of the union is above all computation—that its natural cement is justice, not force; that if justice requires the reduction of the tariff, Congress ought immediately to reduce it; that the fear of doing so because it has been scornfully said that such an act at this time, would be to succumb to the State of South Carolina, is a base and cowardly fear, unworthy a magnanimous and generous people.

Resolved, That we recommend to the General Government to refrain from all force towards the people of the State of South Carolina, until they or any portion of them shall be found in actual resistance to the laws of the United States, and that such offenders be immediately brought to trial, and punishment by the proper tribunal, and that so much force as shall be necessary for that purpose alone be employed on the part of the United States.

The Legislature of Ohio discusses Federal Relations. Mr. Norris, the newly appointed United States Senator, offers resolutions: one affirming the union's value through justice, calling for tariff reduction if just, and dismissing fears of succumbing to South Carolina; the second recommending the General Government refrain from force against South Carolina until actual resistance to U.S. laws, then employing necessary force for trial and punishment.
