From the Missouri Intelligencer.

The following is handed to us as a copy of a memorial said to be now in circulation in the western part of this state. We hope the important objects mentioned in it will not escape the notice of our members in Congress.

To the President of the United States.

The memorial of the undersigned citizens of the western part of Missouri, would respectfully represent, that the Indians residing within this state commit frequent depredations on the property, and interrupt the peace and quiet of the frontier settlers; and that, whilst your memorialists most highly approve the policy which would remove our northern Indians from British influence, they regret the necessity which has located them among us. They are well aware that the necessity exists in the refusal of the National Legislature to co-operate with the executive in those enlightened views the wisdom of which the late events on the Missouri, and the growing importance of our trade with Santa Fe, have so clearly demonstrated:

Hoping the present Congress will not hesitate to vote the necessary appropriations, they respectfully urge upon your consideration the propriety of holding a treaty with the Osage and other Indians, of extinguishing their title to all land within our chartered limits and of removing all the Indians now residing within the limits of this state, beyond our western boundary.
