"More Aid and Comfort."
TWO MILLIONS OF SPECIE were taken a few days since at New York to carry off to Mexico and to pay out to our enemies for beef, bread, &c. It was carried off at midnight that the people might not be acquainted with the amount of 'aid and comfort' Mr Polk is affording the Mexicans, and by which they are enabled to continue the war. About five hundred thousand dollars in specie, it is estimated, is expended in Mexico weekly in this manner.
Why should Vermonters vote to continue this course of proceeding? Why should they thus vote the nation into deeper debt and tax themselves to pay it? What but mere party calls upon them to do so.
