PROTECTING COLORED CONSERVATIVES.

The democratic executive committee of South Carolina has issued an address reciting the recent outrages upon colored conservatives in that State; and calling upon all good citizens, whatever may be their party or race, to unite with every means in their power, in affording to these colored democrats the most ample protection, in the exercise of their rights of citizens to elect their own party and to advocate their principles. It only needs that the State and local authorities do their duty rigidly and promptly in preserving the peace, here as elsewhere, now that exciting political times are upon us, in order that all shall have freedom of action and free discussion shall prevail. Anything that is incendiary and unduly violent in speech can be left to its own cure, as it always reacts:
