$5,000 IN SCHOLARSHIPS
Mrs. Grace H. Racker, National Program Director of the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, announced that more than $5,000 has been awarded for 1955 to high school graduates who are going to pursue teaching careers.
The highest contestant in the western region is Sylvia Adele Taylor, Chicago. Miss Taylor will receive $500 as her award from the National Sorority. Mu chapter in Chicago sponsored Miss Taylor.
In the eastern region, Theta chapter sponsored the winner, Lillian Laura Lau. Miss Lau will receive an award of $500. Miss Lau is from Brooklyn.
Gladys Marie-Pritchett of Birmingham, Ala., is the winner for the Southern Region. Her award also is $500. Nu chapter sponsored Miss Pritchett.
The local scholarship award given by Alpha Delta Chapter of this city was won by Alstene Lynch of Dorsey High.
This presentation of $100 was made on June 3, by Basileus Scott for Soror Gladys Robinson who is the scholarship chairman of Alpha Delta Chapter.
In addition to the above, the National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa will renew the award to Ann Louise Greenfield, New York.
