The "British Packet" is very indignant on account of the interference of the British Commodore Purvis in the affairs of the belligerents, without which, it says, the war would have been already terminated. The packet alludes particularly to Commodore Purvis compelling Admiral Brown to give up the powder which the latter found on capturing Rat Island, near Montevideo, it being claimed as British property.
The Buenos Ayres House of Representatives was in session, Governor Rosas had once more tendered his resignation, and the House had, as a matter of course, refused to accept it. Much indignation was manifested in the House on account of the conduct of Commodore Purvis.
The proceedings of the belligerents since the date of our previous advices, appear to have been unimportant. At least there is no record of occurrences in the Buenos Ayres papers, which is a favorable indication for the Montevideans.
There was no American vessel of war at Buenos Ayres when the Elvira sailed. The United States ship John Adams was at Montevideo, all well.
N. Y. Jour. of Commerce, June 28.
