Among the incidents connected with the late fire in Delaney street New York, the following may not be altogether unworthy of publication.
A little girl attendant at the public school in Henry street after school hours on Thursday, was dismissed as usual. She sought her home but found instead a pile of smoking ruins. She wandered about in the crowd, unknowing and unknown, seeking for her parents till night closed in, when her sobs attracted attention, and she was conveyed to one of the district watch houses, and made comfortable for the night.
In the morning if we understand aright she could not tell the names of her parents, her father worked in a shop, and an aunt lived in Brooklyn, but the whereabouts she was unacquainted with. When the proper hour arrived she was conveyed to the school house, as the only means by which she could be identified, and when we last heard from her she was under the care of one of the teachers, who was endeavoring to trace out those to whom the lost child belonged.
