Full Text

At Drake one night last week, a Soo line policeman was attacked in the yards of that place by a thug, with an iron rod. He was hiding behind some boards near the water tank and as Policeman Pratt passed directly under the tank the fellow nailed him, wielding his weapon in a fashion that would give credit to an old time duelist and indicating that he was perfectly familiar with the hold-up game. Pratt managed to ward off the blows until the thug, seeing that he was unable to accomplish his end in that manner, drew his revolver and took two shots at the officer, which went wild of their mark, whereupon the policeman grabbed the man and landed him in the city lockup and the following day he was taken to the county seat at Towner. He will probably get his just reward when court convenes in McHenry county.
