A Pekin Man Commits Suicide After a Social Event at His Hotel.

Pekin, Ill., July 9.—Henry Gebhardt, a man 32 years of age, became enamored of his brother's wife. A few days ago the woman fell in with another man and today she left the city. For three days he has been threatening to take his life. There was a wedding at the house where he was stopping and he kindly postponed the matter out of regard for the feelings of the people. After the wedding, which took place yesterday, he loaded an old army musket with six inches of powder and filled the barrel to the top with water. He placed the muzzle to his head and touched the trigger with his toe. The force of the discharge blew off his head and shoulders.
