The latest advices from Washington indicate that the condition of President Garfield is decidedly worse than it has yet been and it now seems apparent that the end is not far off. In fact all the physicians, except Dr. Bliss, and the members of the Cabinet, have given up all hope of his recovery, and it may be that before this issue of the Union reaches its readers our noble and much-beloved President will have passed from earth to his reward. The patient is very weak and emaciated—delirious at times—and at 1:30 Friday morning his pulse was 120.

Washington, Friday, August 26th, 8 A. M.—The President rested a little easier last night but he is worse than he was yesterday. His pulse is a little higher and he is sinking rapidly.
