Full Text

EMIGRATION— The board of emigration for this county, over which Mr. N. Haerle presides, is doing a very considerable work in the way of introducing laborers into our county. This is much needed. It is true, we have an over abundance of colored people here that should supply the demand? but the fact is that they are so unreliable, so unsteady, and so much taken up with their newly acquired freedom that many of them have little or no time left to labor, unless it be in a sort of spasmodical way that gives no assurance to the farmer that their services will be given when most required. Mr. N. Haerle tells us that he has had no trouble in securing help from the great depots of immigration, and his orders are promptly filled.
