WHITNEY'S RAIL ROAD PROJECT.

Mr. Asa Whitney has been pressing with great energy in England his scheme of a Rail Road from Lake Michigan to the Pacific. At first, he met with but little encouragement, but he has persevered until several able scientific men have yielded their objections, and now think well of his project.
The London Morning Chronicle seems to think it not improbable that the work may be constructed on the British side of the border: and adds, that- there is no question of national rivalry in the matter. Provided that the line be made, it is of little consequence whether it be constructed within the American or British border; or by American or British settlers. What we want is the Railway, and the hearty co-operation of both nations in making it. This is emphatically one of those works which are for the whole world, and for all time."
The Chronicle further remarks that Mr. Whitney can tell his countrymen there is in this country [England] no feeling of hostile rivalry towards them.
