GOD IS LOVE.

Yea, God is love; it shines forth conspicuously as one of the attributes of Divinity. Though we often feel as if there was injustice in the commands of God yet when we come closely to view all His labors, we see that a vein of love pervades them all, love for every thing which He has made. It is a powerful magnetism which binds the created to the Creator; which governs all things, and makes them obedient to His will. God loves us and proffers happiness to all who obey His laws and yield implicitly to all His commands. God is Love! so says the rainbow, the starry sky, the golden sunlight, the placid moonbeam, the deep-blue ocean, the gentle rill, the shower, the forest trees, the winds, the flowers, the brute creation, and Man, too, joins in the universal anthem of "God is Love."

Behold the vastness of all our wants; the adaptation in nature to the supply of those wants; the social powers and their means of gratification; the body and its resources; the passions and their uses; the aspirations and their satisfaction; the boundless fields of imagination; the vastness of man's intellectual nature and the resources of science and literature; the desires of man's moral nature and the means for enjoyment therein; when we view all these things, we are led to exclaim., in admiration, "God is love!" When we view with mental vision His unremitting care of us, and think that over us such care always continues, we add, God is love!" And no desire of the human heart can make us more truly happy than the firm belief that all He does is done in love; that every institution of His. is for our good; that He does it because He so loves us as to add to our happiness every moment of our lives. So let it sink deep into every human heart that "God is Love!" Let every human being realize the truth of this conviction, that to every plant, every living thing, to every world and especially to the soul of man, God's wish to all is love, and only love!
