The professions were well represented by the guests, there being the minister, doctor, teacher and editor. An Epworth league has been organized among the young people here to meet at the church Sunday evenings. Reverend Kahl will also meet a class of probationers Friday afternoon at 4:15. There seems to be an epidemic of colds and bronchial troubles among the little ones and some of the oldest ones throughout the neighborhood. A ten pound baby girl arrived at the Farnham farm last Thursday morning, the first born daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bower, the first granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. G. B. Farnham and the first great granddaughter of A. T. Farnham. Ed. Kentfield, who has been under the doctor's care with an attack of pleurisy, is improving. Mrs. Fred Bettschen and son stopped off on their way to her claim in Culbertson, Mont., to visit with the families of Louis and John Bettschen. The "nine dollar hog" seems to be the general theme of conversation. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Heiden have arrived from Minnesota and are getting settled in their new home. John Lee and family are busy getting settled in their new home on the Fred Williams farm, two miles west of town. T. O. Burgum and family will make their future home on his father's farm, three miles from town. Mr. Hare, the new clerk at T. J. Ross's has rented their house. Rev. J. A. Kahl, closed Friday evening, the two weeks special meetings held at the M. E. church. The services were educational in the best sense of the word and the moral tone of the community has been elevated by them. The business men of Arthur showed a commendable spirit in closing their stores in the evening and aiding in every way to make the meetings a success. The baby boy who was a recent welcomed arrival at S. J. Rasler's home has been under the doctor's care with the grip, but is now improving. The card players of Arthur chaperoned by T. O. Burgum and Wm. Laudon, drove to Erie Tuesday night to play for the whist championship. Erie players proved too much for the Arthurites, who expect to go to Hunter this week and try their luck with the whist players there. Arthur Burgum, Ella Milkie and Elizabeth Burgum attended the party given at the T. J. Frank residence at Hunter in honor of the sophomores, juniors and seniors of the Hunter high school. Miss Myrtle Farnham is recovering from a recent attack of appendicitis. R. C. Elliot and family will become residents here and will make their home on the Fred Williams farm adjoining town. The "Hen Fever" seems to have struck the town and ere another season a poultry exhibit here of blue blooded fowls would prove a winner. Disregarding the ancient motto of refrain from enumerating your feathered bipeds, ere they emerge from the celluloid tissue surrounding them, a lot of prize winners could be selected from the Buff Orpingtons of John Bettschen's, the Buff Cochins of Joe Eichelberger, Louis Schur; Plymouth Rocks; Walter Phillips, Barred Rocks; Louis Bettschen's White Leghorns; Clyde Gamble, Wyandottes. The weather on Sunday last made one think they lived in the simoon belt. A steady gale blew all day, and several minor damages are reported. The top was blown off a freight car on the siding. Cor.
