ATTEMPT AT ROBBERY.
Postmaster Discovered the Burglars and Put Them to Flight.

Mansfield Center, Aug. 2.—Postmaster Alfred Oden of this place foiled an attempted safe robbery in the postoffice early to-day. Mr. Oden runs a general store in connection with his duties as postmaster and lives in the building. Three burglars gained admission to the store and proceeded to blow open the safe. They drilled the holes and fixed the explosives and then went outside to wait for the effect. Mr. Oden discovered the burglars and when they came outside to wait for the blowing open of the safe, he fired upon them with a shot gun. They fled and he tracked them for some distance by the trail of blood showing that one of them had been injured. There was $200 in cash and stamps in the safe.
