Full Text

"THERE SHE STANDS-LOOK AT HER!"-The Governor of Massachusetts, when a requisition was made on that State last summer, promptly issued a proclamation and general orders for raising the Volunteers required. At the latest dates he had made no response to the new requisition. He seems to have surrendered himself into the keeping of such men as Webster, who oppose and denounce the war. Does he not remember the place in American history occupied by Caleb Strong? or is he anxious for a similar position! The brave men of the Bay State should now, as in 1813 and 1814, step forward at their country's call, and thus shame their recreant office-holders. —St. Louis Union.
