MR STANLY AND GEN. SCOTT.

The Raleigh Star, a thoroughly whig paper, contains the following article in relation to Mr Stanly's recent letter recommending Gen. Scott for the Presidency:

"Mr Stanly has published a letter in the Republic, affirming the soundness of Gen. Scott on the Compromise from his own personal knowledge; and expressing the opinion that there is no necessity of any letter or pledge from Gen. Scott on the subject. We cannot concur in this opinion, and doubt whether Gen. Scott could get the vote of a single Southern State without some satisfactory statement, under his own signature."
