HARTFORD. September 2.
On the 26th of May the budget was opened in the British House of Commons, by Lord Cavendish, when a great number of taxes were proposed; the last tax proposed by his Lordship is the most remarkable:
"The last tax proposed by his Lordship was a duty upon every marriage, every birth and every burial. He then moved, that three pence per head be laid upon all persons married, all infants born, and all persons buried, which he estimated at twenty-five thousand pounds."
We may reasonably conclude that the people of Britain are groaning under the highest degree of oppression, when they are taxed for being born, and taxed for dying?
