Cardinal York died in Rome on June 10. All his valuable estates and effects, except some legacies left towards the support of Jesuits driven from Spain and Portugal, were bequeathed to his brother the Chevalier, who was incognito in Turin waiting for a great event expected soon. A courier was dispatched to Turin with advice of the Cardinal's death.
