Full Text

Overland Travel.—The number of passengers overland on the Pacific railroad has increased perceptibly within the last two weeks. Old Californians on their way East, who passed down the Humboldt river in an early day can scarce credit their senses upon beholding the changes which have taken place on the Humboldt since they first crossed the plains. The Humboldt is not such a dreary, desolate, God-forsaken region as their imagination had painted it to be, when sore-footed and way-worn they traveled down its banks years ago.
