We hear from Westchester, that a certain Tanner was cast for his Life for the Murder of one Nealson of Mamaroneck, by cleaving off his Head with a Currier's Sceaving Knife, so that he died soon after.

The Accident happened as follows: The Tanner ow'd the deceased some Money, for which he took out Process and obtained a Deputation to serve the Precept himself, which he did accordingly. After the Precept was served on the Tanner, he desired Leave to go into another Room, under a Pretext of shifting his Clothes, and there lock'd himself fast. Nealson having got some Assistance, broke open the Door, and rush'd in upon him, but unhappily for him, for the Tanner struck him with the Sceaving Knife and split his Skull, so that he died in a few Hours.
