Commissioned As Ensign

NEW LONDON, CONN.—Robert Aloysius Dion, 22, son of Mr. and Mrs. F. J. Dion, of 512 Simonton street, Key West, was one of 76 commissioned recently with the rank of Ensign, U. S. Coast Guard Reserve, after successful completion of an intensive four month course at the Coast Guard Academy here.

A graduate of St. Leo College Preparatory, St. Leo, Florida, and University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida, where he received a degree in Bachelor of Art in Education. He enlisted in the Coast Guard on November 22, 1951, and qualified immediately for admission to Reserve Officer Candidate School.

Ens. Dion is married to the former Miss Avlon Marie Smith, of Jacksonville, Florida. Following a short leave, he will report for his initial assignment to active duty in the Coast Guard.
