desires. Loudon--By inserting the following you'll oblige a Citizen.

From the Daily Advertiser.

May 30. We hear by the last accounts, that the Grand Assembly of Notables, lately convened in France, was dissolved without effecting any thing of moment. This matter appears farcical in the extreme, as the King's pleasure is, and will be, the supreme law--if the Notables coincided in sentiment with it, they might--if not, they should.

To compare great things to small, this affair is like one between Paddy and his wife--the latter desiring leave of the former to visit a neighbour, was told, as that she might go or stay at home, as he pleased, but by F--s she should not go.
From the New-York Morning Post.

Extract of a letter from Paris, received by the Favorite, Captain Coupar, dated April 4.

The Notables have adjourned themselves the 28th of last month, to the 16th inst. The length of their debates, and the minute attention they gave to the important matters laid before them by the respective Secretaries of State, have made it impossible for them to go through all the business before Easter. It is supposed that their next session will last three months more. Almost all the plans of M. Necker and of his predecessors, which none of them had courage or credit enough to put in execution, are now deliberated upon by these representatives of the nation. They have agreed to no proposal, but after a thorough investigation, they have rejected some of them, as the territorial impost, with a laudable firmness.
