Full Text
If the Liberty of the Press is once destroyed, the liberty of the subject cannot long survive.--A Free Press is a watch-tower, from whence the light of reason and of truth may shine and illumine mankind--its blaze exposes to our view the deformity of corruption, the baseness of treachery, the enormity of injustice, the iniquity of fraud and rapine, and the atrociousness of tyranny and oppression.--The Liberty of the Press, and the Trial by Jury, are the main pillars of our Constitution--let us guard them with reverential care if we regard our liberties, and are resolved to live and die freemen.
