Full Text

The western waters have sometimes witnessed the arrival of fifty pieces of heavy artillery and twenty thousand stands of arms, at different positions at and above fort Adams in our south western angle, they are all of American manufacture. They were ordered thither in consequence of the misconduct of the Spanish intendant at New Orleans. This important and sudden addition to the artillery and arms, placed there by our former administrations, is a proof that our present administration is determined to increase the strength of our reasonings in favor of our Mississippi rights. The arms were ordered while our diplomatic arguments were transmitting for consideration in Europe.
