HEART-RENDING CASUALTY.—While the north-bound train of the St. Louis & Iron Mountain railroad was coming up near Hazlehurst Monday night, Mr. Peter Ratliffe, an old and highly-esteemed citizen of Amite county, who was a passenger, put his head out of the window to look at a wreck of a train which was thrown off the track two days before. His head came in contact with a part of the debris, and he was instantly killed. The deceased was sheriff of Amite county immediately succeeding the war, and was universally esteemed.
