No Party Measure. Already Upon we hear Whigs who were bitter in their opposition to the new Constitution, and who did all in their power to defeat it, say that it is no party measure. No thanks to you gentlemen. You did what you could to make it a party question, and because Whigs and Free Soilers voted for it, it shows that such miserable contracted views of you were actuated by could not induce them to pursue a course at variance with enlightened reason, and nothing more. The Whig and Chronicle never fought a question harder than they did the adoption of the new constitution. Every Whig paper in the State, with the exception of three, did what they could against its adoption. The Whig Central Committee at Columbus flooded the State with circulars designed to induce the Whigs to vote against it. You made no party question of it, eh? You find you did a very unjust, and, at the same time, a very unpopular thing; but such shallow trickery will not serve to divert public attention from your true position. Go to, and become honest. Trumbull Dem.
