HOLDING TAX ACT BACK

Action Not to Be Taken on Tax Reform Bill Until This Disposed Of

ATLANTA, Aug. 6—(By Associated Press)—As the result of a conference with Governor Walker, leaders of the house are planning to submit either this afternoon or tomorrow the tax reform measures recommended by the constitutional amendments committee to the legislators for consideration.

The new general tax act will not be presented at present and probably not at all, it was stated, in order that tax reform measures may be considered and action taken on them during the present session, if possible. If the house should complete action on the tax reform bills this week or early next week, however, the general tax act may then be brought up.

The house this afternoon passed the following bills:

By Representative DeLaPierre, to require the manufacturers of insecticides to print the contents of each package on its label.

By Representative Camp, to provide two dental surgeons on the membership of the State Board of Health.

By Representatives Meeks and Smith, to permit cities to create recreation grounds.

The measure by Representative Roswell to make tax collectors, ex-officio sheriff was defeated and the house pensions committee disapproved the bill by Representative Hillhouse to tax poodle dogs and gasoline to raise funds with which to pay pensions to eligible Confederate veterans.
