NEW-YORK, October 9.

British Recruits.

We hold documents, which warrant the assertion, that there are several public British rendezvous, in this city, for recruiting of men to put on board the Thetis and Prudvoyante, now off Governors island; that several officers with tempting guineas, generally armed, and that upwards of fifty have been already put on board!!!

These circumstances are noted, that government may not remain ignorant of the acts, without intending a remark at present upon the lawfulness of such proceedings on neutral ground.
