Jade Shipped To Skagway
Travels Through Seattle

SEATTLE, (P) -- More than a ton of jade from Alaska headed back north to Alaska from Seattle.

Two man-sized chunks of jade weighed in at 3,400 pounds when they were hoisted aboard the Alaska liner Susitna at Pier 42.

The jades were brought south from Kotzebue last month, and Seattle is a way port on their voyage to Skagway. At Skagway, dealer Alfred C. Wauk will cut the jades down to 8-by-6-inch "loaves" and market them to the hobby trade of America.

This is the largest Alaska shipment of jade in recent years. Its value is estimated at "thousands of dollars."
