Full Text

Even the South Carolina delegation in the late Commercial Convention at Savannah were startled at the development of an ultra State Rights sentiment among the Georgians. They were not only against the tariff as an evil, but were in favor of direct taxation as a positive good, and the only way perhaps by which one set of interests in the Union could be prevented from riding on the backs of others. This sentiment, we learn, is becoming crystallized into a regular party in North Georgia, and we learn from the Montgomery Mail that a Convention of its members will be held at Atlanta during the coming summer.
