Rev. L. B. Nelson, former pastor of the First Institutional Baptist Church, is to arrive here on the 19th to preside over the annual session of the Paradise Baptist State Convention which will convene at New Home Baptist Church, Rev. W. A. Washington, Pastor.
Rev. Nelson will return to close out his fifth year as president of the convention. He is now pastor of the Salem Institutional Baptist Church, in Dallas, Texas. Thirty-two members have been added to his church within the two months he has been there, he said.
Rev. Nelson is swiftly becoming an outstanding figure in the National Baptist ranks, according to report. He has been chosen a voting delegate to the National Council of Churches, which will hold its general assembly in Boston this year.
While in Phoenix, Rev. Nelson will conduct a week of Religious services for the New Home Baptist Church. He will deliver his annual message to the Convention Wednesday night, at 8:00 p.m. His theme will be, "The Negro Church, in Integrated Society." He will deliver the Convention Message on Sunday morning, at the 11:00 o'clock hour. Mrs. Ethel G. Barnes, of Tucson, will preside over the Women's convention.

During the past two years he has successfully led this district to even greater heights. The church may never fully realize how much he means or has meant to the community as well as the church.
He is a fearless and open challenger for what he thinks is right.
His motto, "Always build churches and save souls." He contributes much of his success to his wife who is ever by his side and is also a teacher in the city school system.
