Full Text
'I look with grave suspicion,' said Rev. E. R. Donehoo, of the Eighth Presbyterian Church of Pittsburg, 'upon the sudden conversion of the Republican politicians. Their appeals to fireside voters would have more weight if corruption was not so rampant in the offices which they at present control. We have a Republican municipal government, but I have yet to discover the slightest evidence of piety about it. There is no occasion for the pulpit to go into politics, as the morals of the State, county or city are equally as safe in the keeping of Democrats as Republicans.'
