THREE YOUNG MEN IN COUNTY JAIL CHARGED WITH THEFT.
Bert Rosco, Ben Taylor and T. R. Rosco, three young men, are in the county jail, charged with grand larceny, and their offense is a very unusual one. It is alleged that they stole a band of sheep belonging to Smith & Elliot, and when located through the efforts of Stock Inspector Shaw and the local officers, had the sheep penned near the Snowies and were just commencing to shear them. The men were brought in by Sheriff Slater, and will have a hearing before Judge McFarland later. The case has not yet been set, and it will require several days to get the witnesses in. County Attorney Ayres says the case against the defendants appears to be complete, and he does not see what defense can be made. The prisoners are not doing any talking yet, and probably have not fully decided on the course to be pursued by them.
