SALT LAKE CITY—A trucker and his relief driver were killed when their truck—a huge semi-trailer—crashed through a guard rail and sank in the Mountain Dell Reservoir on U. S. 40 in Parleys Canyon.
The truck sank in almost the exact location where an explosive-laden truck crashed the guard rail and sank last August.
Reports indicate that the brakes of the truck were apparently out of order.
A witness reports the truck "going faster than any truck I've ever seen. He looked as if he didn't have a brake in the world."
Tire marks stretched 300 feet in the roadway in front of the guard rail.
The accident was called to TRAINMAN NEWS attention by J. C. Mahoney, Lodge 941 local chairman. He reports that numerous accidents have happened at this location, and nearly all were trucks.
