Activity is renewing in the Winifred area, according to Ray E. Colton, Miles City geologist, who was a Great Falls visitor this week.
W. W. Toney of Lewistown has 3,000 acres blocked up about seven miles north of Winifred and is planning two tests to the top of the Eagle sandstone, expected at about 1,500 feet, Colton said.
One of the wells is to be drilled in section 5-21N-18E, the other in 6-21N-18E, both in the vicinity of gassers that found production in the Claggett sand, above the Eagle, according to Colton.
