Full Text

Gen. Carey On the Stump.
We had the pleasure of listening to one of the best Lincoln speeches of the campaign, delivered by General Carey, at this place on Saturday evening.
The General happened here, and as there was a meeting of the Republican Club, he was called upon and responded in one of his happiest veins. It would not be interesting to our readers, (a large portion of whom heard the speech) to give anything like a report in detail. The Court House was crowded to overflowing with eager listeners of all parties, and the happy manner in which the old breachy Buck, and the little Rebel were held up, will not be forgotten by them until after the election. General Carey is a man who is aiming to live and act his part, so it may be said of him, that the human family were benefitted by his life and example, and one chapter in any such life should be devoted to the Republican cause. We hope, therefore, the General may have an opportunity of devoting that chapter to the election of Lincoln and Hamlin.--New Castle Courier.
