Perhaps of interest to many throughout the Department was the recent marriage of Mrs. Marie Haas and Comrade Eugene Loney, District Commander. They have both been very active in local and Department activities. They were married on Thanksgiving night with the Post and Auxiliary as guests.
The previous Wednesday, the Post and Auxiliary gave a dancing party and presented them with a cocktail table and vases.
I am sure the good wishes of all are with them.
The annual Christmas Party on December 15 was followed by a short business meeting.
Hardly a meeting goes by without an invitation. There were games and entertainment, with the children of members furnishing most of it. After we exchanged gifts, refreshments were furnished by the Post.
We have a Chairman who is appointed to serve throughout the year, and she in turn appoints her Committee to work each month to serve after the lodge meeting. Sister Hazel Nelson is our Chairman. She was also our Housing Chairman here in Walla Walla during the Convention.
A suggestion for other groups if you have a member overseas in the Service. Let your Secretary compose a greeting to your overseas member, and have each member of the Auxiliary sign it, and send it by Air Mail to your overseas Auxiliary member. We did this on December 10 and had our Department President, Opal Shaffer, sign her name also.
Lt. Beatrice Salonen is our member over in the European theater.
