WELCOMES PEACE

Alexandria late Saturday afternoon celebrated the signing of the peace treaty by the ringing of the city hall and fire engine bells.

An order of the ringing of the bells was given by Mayor Fisher after he had confirmed the news from the White House. For ten minutes the bells let loose to let the residents know that the treaty for the world peace had been signed. Many persons on the streets at first thought that there was a fire in progress. They soon, however, learned differently.
