Full Text

The high minded (!) editor of the Democrat affects to think we are guilty of a great outrage in re-publishing his friend Cushnan's letters. Will he tell us what he thinks of those Copperhead editors who have recently published a private letter written by J. T. Wright, Chairman of the Union State Central Committee, which was obtained in some dishonest manner? If we have done wrong so have they, but our neighbor will never be able to see it.

We feel bad neighbor, we do, under your denunciations. The wonder to us is that there is so much wickedness and vice in our community, when we are blessed with such an embodiment of truth, virtue and nobility as yourself, in our midst! Surely your example ought to have a more regenerating and purifying influence than it has! The world, we fear, will never appreciate your worth until you are dead! Let this thought console and encourage you.

What is the price of whiskey now?

Atlanta is in our possession. The loyal men everywhere are rejoicing over this glorious news, but the friends of little Mac look gloomy and mad. This fact shows plainly that their sympathies are with the rebels.
