ARRANGEMENTS MADE FOR AUTUMN LEAF EXCURSION

Baltimore and Ohio To Run Special Here From Baltimore And Washington, Sunday, Oct. 3

MOTOR TRIPS PLANNED

Arrangements were completed yesterday for an autumn leaf excursion, to be run by the Baltimore and Ohio railroad from Baltimore and Washington, to Oakland, it was announced this morning by Lawrence M. Fraley, mayor.

The excursion, to be known as the autumn leaf camera caravan, will be run on Sunday, October 3. It will arrive in Oakland about 1 p. m., and will leave at 5:30, giving excursionists four and one-half hours in which to see the mountain scenery.

A tentative program outlined by Mayor Fraley calls for a motor trip to Herrington Manor forest, where the recreational area is being constructed by the State Forestry Department, thence to Swallow Falls and Muddy Creek Falls, thence to Deep Creek Lake.

Mr. Fraley is asking the cooperation of all public spirited citizens to donate the use of their automobiles on this occasion. The Baltimore and Ohio officials estimated that the lowest number to expect would be 200 people from Baltimore, Washington and intermediate points.

Arrangements for this excursion were completed by Mayor Fraley, M. W. Grove, traveling passenger agent of the railroad company, and F. G. Baugh, tour and excursion agent.

Messrs. Grove and Baugh were in Oakland on Tuesday and Mr. Fraley then went to Cumberland on Wednesday.

This will be the first excursion of its kind in this section. Plans for a similar occasion were made last year but the date set proved too late, as all the autumn foliage had disappeared. A severe windstorm about a week before the time set was one of the contributing causes.

Mr. Fraley said that many of the people who came here would want to take pictures of the scenery.

Anyone volunteering the use of their automobile for Sunday, October 3, is asked to call the City Hall and inform J. Frank Browning, clerk.
