High Food Prices Angers U.S. Judge

PHILADELPHIA—Eating house owners who appear before him on price chiseling charges need expect no mercy from Federal Judge George A. Welsh.

He declared in open court this week how one restaurant had charged him "35 cents for a tiny dipper of ice cream and 10 cents for a small cup of coffee, half-filled," and added:

"Restaurants seem to have gone haywire by cutting portions and raising prices. They are putting men, women and children on an involuntary reducing diet. It's got to stop."
