Full Text

SERENADE.--Wednesday night, it was our pleasure to come into consciousness about the "cock-crowing hours of night," to listen to delightful music under the very window of our sanctum. Several voices, attuned to melody, discoursing in such a manner, as to transport the soul, to another world, where "affairs" are conducted, on better musical principles than they are in this. The "Hazel Dell" was given, with an exquisite and artistic finish. The leading voice is one of rare compass, and unusual sweetness. In "The Separation," which was given alone, there was that to touch the heart strings, and send a thrill of delight, through every nerve and fiber. The gentlemen have our thanks collectively; their music has driven away the cobwebs of a month's accumulation; and we feel a vigor in our nerves this morning, to undertake anything-a single arm may do.
