DRAW ATTENTION TO
MOST ATTRACTIVE
FEATURES

By MAX FACTOR, Jr.

HOLLYWOOD, Aug. 28—(INS)—The same principles of display which so largely govern successful salesmanship are applicable to the creation of feminine glamour.

Newspaper and magazine advertisements always expound upon the most outstanding merits of the articles whose purchase they advocate.

And the most glamorous women present themselves with their most attractive features dominantly accentuated with make-up.

As an illustration, let us consider those ladies whose lives are so dependent upon glamour—Hollywood's feminine film stars.

Loretta Young's eyes provide her most outstanding point of beauty and expressiveness. Therefore, Miss Young's make-up is created in such a fashion that the beauty of her eyes shall never be minimized by the over-accentuation of any other feature: her cheek rouge, lip rouge, and face powder are all used so lightly that they will never draw attention away from her beautifully made-up eyes.

In like manner, the distinction afforded by the high, angular, and finely chiseled cheek lines of Katharine Hepburn is furthered by subduing and minimizing the central cheek areas with rouge. In this way, Miss Hepburn's cheeks are made to appear even hollower than they actually are, with a consequent embellishment of the highly individual definition of the upper cheek line.

Merely by a judicious reversal of this make-up principle of accentuating an attractive feature, women may also direct attention away from a not-so-pretty portion of the face.

It is all a matter of angle showmanship. Draw attention to the most attractive features, and away from those which are farthest from perfection.
