Few Birds in Fields—Will Ask for Change in Law.

The open season for prairie chickens and doves will commence tomorrow, and a large number of hunters have arranged to be in the fields early.

Farmers in the Lewiston country report chickens very scarce, and these reports are corroborated by grouse hunters, who have seen but few chickens while hunting during the past two weeks.

An effort will be made by Lewiston sportsmen to have the next session of the legislature pass an amendment to the present game law which will provide for the opening of the chicken season October 1. It is probable an effort will be made to have the quail season, that now opens November 1, to begin at the same time and extend through October and November.
